Temporary Summer Assistant - Advancement Information Services
Pay Status and Classification: Non-exempt, Temporary. This is a summer position (8-10 weeks) and Union College students are encouraged to apply. This position is an onsite position and not eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
Supervisor: Assistant Director of Advancement Information Services
Position Purpose: Provides support to the Advancement Information Services team by assisting with data entry, web searches, project support and various administrative tasks. Provides flexible support as assigned.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Locator Services: Conducts web searches to locate and update alumni information including addresses, phone numbers, employment details and graduate school information. Researches updates on corporate partners.
- Database Entry: Updates the database with the latest information from the locator service and other campus departments.
- Project Support: Utilizes Excel and Google Sheets to manage projects efficiently. Creates pivot tables as necessary to analyze and present data effectively. Performs other duties as assigned.

- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects.
- Proficient computer skills and ability to use and learn new software quickly.

Compensation
The rate for this position is $16.00 per hour. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Job Summary | The Department of Science & Technology Studies (STS) in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute seeks a tenure track/tenured Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor specializing in Community Engagement and Community-Based Research and whose research and teaching is grounded in Science and Technology Studies (STS). The successful candidate will extend the STS research portfolio in the areas of public understanding of science, citizen science, community-based participatory research, participatory action research, participatory design, and/or public engagement in science and technology policymaking. They will teach required courses for the majors in Science, Technology, and Society; Design, Innovation and Society; and Sustainability Studies, as well as the PhD program in Science and Technology Studies. The position is 40% teaching, 40% research, 20% service. |
Minimum Qualifications | Applicants must have a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in Science and Technology Studies or a related field, such as Sociology, Anthropology, Design Studies, Geography, or Media Studies. Applicants must have knowledge of, commitment to, and expertise in community engagement and community-based research. Candidates must also be able to present evidence of effective teaching, and have the ability to demonstrate, through accomplishment, promise of academic, scholarly and/or research achievement. We seek a scholar who will contribute to the STS Department’s broader commitments to socially engaged STS and design of alternative futures. STS features a wide range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary researchers, including historians, sociologists, anthropologists, political scientists, and media studies scholars. Scholarship that takes into account perspectives from marginalized communities and pedagogical practice that values diversity and inclusivity will be prioritized. Job Summary | Endowed Constellation Faculty in Future Chips at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute We are especially interested in candidates who have a demonstrated ability to perform high impact research in semiconductor technology to address the next generation challenges in computing. Areas of focus are rooted in fundamental science and engineering that drive advances in microelectronics, such as heterogeneous integration, advanced logic, advanced packaging, and power electronics. Physics of materials is also important to making these advances and is, therefore, an area of interest. The ideal candidates are expected to develop an internationally recognized, externally funded, scientific program in chip technology for the future of computing. The Future Chips Constellation will be a key stakeholder in the Center for Materials, Devices, and Integrated Systems (cMDIS) which houses the Microscale and Nanoscale Cleanroom and the Nanoscale Characterization Core. Successful candidates will have duties that include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, developing and maintaining robust programs of research and scholarship, and service to their department and to Rensselaer. Job Summary | The Department of Biological Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY invites applications for tenure-track/tenured faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor levels. We seek passionate and innovative individuals with demonstrated potential to establish a strong externally funded research program and contribute to the teaching mission of the department. All exceptional candidates will be considered, and we encourage applications from individuals who will bring a unique research approach and skill set to address fundamental problems in neurobiology, cell and developmental, biology, broadly defined. Successful candidates will complement the department research strengths in cellular neuroscience, circadian biology, molecular motors & cytoskeleton dynamics, muscle physiology & disease, neurodegeneration, protein design, folding, structure & functional dynamics, protein misfolding in human disease, microbiology & host-pathogen interactions, biophysics of extreme environments, and freshwater ecology & climate change. Candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor must exhibit promise of future distinction in research, scholarship, and education. For candidates at the Associate or full Professor level, the applicant must possess a record of excellence in scholarship as demonstrated by an emerging national and/or international reputation, a significant funding record, high quality educational activities including teaching and advising, and service to the department, university, and profession. The successful candidate will be expected to establish/maintain an externally funded research program, participate in collaborative, multi-investigator research and research training initiatives, and contribute to the high impact teaching program in the Department of Biological Sciences. The successful candidate will join the faculty in the 218,000 square foot Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies (CBIS), which contains staff-supported core facilities and promotes an atmosphere for interdisciplinary collaboration. The Institute for Data Exploration and Applications (IDEA) enables an opportunity to partner with faculty that are at the forefront of biological data analytics, enabling the modeling and simulation power to advance the quantitative and systems biology approaches that are widely employed in the department. IDEA and the Center for Computational Innovation provide collaborative opportunities to use the fastest supercomputer found at a private university. More recently, Rensselaer and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai launched the Center for Engineering and Precision Medicine (CEPM) in New York City to engage in both fundamental and translational biomedical research both in New York City and the Troy campus, expanding collaborative opportunities with a world class medical school for Rensselaer faculty. Job Summary | The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE in Troy, NY, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or tenured Associate Professor position in Materials Science and Engineering with expertise and potential in the broad area of bulk/thin film metallic materials. Example research foci and applications include nanoelectronics device wiring, packaging and integration, energy generation (e.g., nuclear, thermoelectric, wind, solar) and storage (e.g., batteries, supercapacitors), light-weight high-strength structures, alloy design, microstructure development, additive manufacturing, and environmental degradation. We will also consider exceptional candidates from other related areas. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field. The successful candidate must also demonstrate the potential and zest to develop and maintain an internationally recognized funded research program, actively contribute to the core graduate and undergraduate teaching mission of the department and the school, and engage in department, institute, and professional service activities. The New York State Center for Future Energy Systems conducts fundamental and applied research to accelerate the development of energy-efficient and renewable energy technologies.
